Rebates and Tax Credits

Older wood stoves and wood heaters can impact the quality of the air both outdoors and even inside your home. Updating your old stove with a more efficient option conserves energy, improves air quality and enhances the aesthetics of your home. It also saves you money, especially if there’s a wood stove changeout program or tax incentive available for you to leverage.

Residents of communities with changeout programs can qualify for rebates, low/no interest loans and/or discounts to replace old appliances with cleaner-burning options. There are also tax credits, deductions, exemptions and rebates provided by state, federal and local governments.

Any of these options can significantly lower the cost of replacing your old stove or heater, making the investment easier to manage financially and the long-term payoff even greater.

Vermont Castings is proud to offer a broad lineup of products that are tested to meet the most rigorous emission standards, including wood stoves and wood fireplace inserts. Federal Tax Credit

Effective January 1st, 2021, a new Wood and Pellet Heater Investment Tax Credit came into effect for qualifying purchases completed on or after that date, through December 31, 2023. Found under section 25(D) of the tax code, this new credit covers?26 percent?of the purchase and installation costs (with no cap or lifetime limit) for tax years 2021 and 2022; moving down to 22 percent of purchase and installation costs in 2023.

To qualify, the stove or insert must burn biomass as a fuel, heat air or water, and be at least 75 percent efficient per the higher heating value of the fuel. Installations at primary or secondary residencies can be claimed, and both the purchase and installation costs (venting and related materials, onsite labor) can be included in your total cost.

To get started, connect with your local authorized Vermont Castings dealer with questions and to determine a qualifying selection that best meets your heating needs. Once installation is complete, be sure to keep your receipt, including product and installation, and download and save our 2021-2023 manufacturer’s certificate so you can claim the credit without issue.
